Bike, Hike & Walk

Rochester, MN has more than 85 miles of paved, interconnected walking and biking trails. These trails take bikers and hikers along creeks, through woods, and along the cityscape and bustling buildings near downtown. The trail system provides access to over 100 city parks, along with historical and natural attractions.

Silver Lake Boat and Bike Rental rents bicycles daily during the summer from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. and in the winter by appointment. Options include adult bikes, children's bikes, baby trailers, and tandem bikes. Silver Lake Park (the site of Silver Lake Boat and Bike Rentals) is a few minutes from downtown and the hub for many of Rochester’s biking/hiking trails.

"Some of the most beautiful areas are around Silver Lake, along the Zumbro River, Silver Creek, Bear Creek, and Cascade Creek," says Silver Lake Boat and Bike Rentals owner Aaron Richard. "Along the Zumbro River, there are lots of bluebells blooming in the spring, and although you're right in town it feels like you're in the country."

Rochester's trail system is an excellent way to see the city and help maintain a healthy lifestyle year-round. During the winter, many of the trails are plowed for use.
