History Center of Olmsted County

Discover the colorful past and fabric of life of Rochester and Olmsted County. The museum is open year-round and contains rare pictures, maps, diaries, and exhibits recounting the story of Rochester's rise as a global leader in health care. Memorial Day through Labor Day, visitors can also explore the William Dee Log Cabin, an early (1862) pioneer home that has been restored and refurbished, as well as the Hadley Valley School House, a traditional one-room school that contains all the artifacts of turn of the century teaching. Walk or drive through the grounds of the George Stoppel Farm, a typical, self-sufficient homestead farm where the earliest settlers lived in the rootcave in 1856.
