Day One

3-4:15pm Tour the Plummer House of the Arts, a 49-room mansion with its many innovations built far advanced for its time by Dr. Henry S. Plummer. This Tudor-style mansion sits on 11 acres of beautifully landscaped grounds, consisting of formal gardens, bird trails and quarry and water tower, which highlight features of its beauty.

4:30-5:30pm End the day with a tour of the Assisi Heights Convent, which bears a striking resemblance to the Basilica of St. Francis of Assisi in Italy with its Italian Romanesque structure with red tile roof. Visitors are welcome to explore the ornate architecture and discover the legendary proposal to Dr. William Mayo from the Sisters of St. Francis to build a town hospital. The Chapels are also a must see.

6pm Dinner before retiring to your room for the evening at one of the many fine hotels in the city.

Day Two

7:30-8:30am Breakfast

8:30-10am Enjoy a delightfully fun and informative tour of Rochester. Youll learn everything you ever wanted to know about Rochester: The historic Chateau Theatre, now a Barnes and Noble Bookstore, the SEMVA Art Gallery, Heritage House, Silver Lake Park, Quarry Hill Nature Center, the 56-bell Rochester Carillon atop the Plummer Building downtown and stop at the Soldiers Field Veterans Memorial.

10:15-11:30am A Toast of the Town Tour. Visit the Toaster Shed which holds the majority of Maynard and Marlys Jones collection of more than 920 toasters and toaster related items. The oldest electric toaster in the collection dates back to 1909.

11:45am-1pm Lunch.

1-2:30pm Mayowood Tour. Historic Mayowood Mansion, a grand estate of the early twentieth century, is one of the areas most loved sites. The elegant 38-room mansion, nestled into a wooded hillside above the Zumbro River, was home to three generations of the Mayo family. Tour guides relate wonderful personal anecdotes while showing the heirloom collectibles and furnishings in each room, recalling lives of those who helped shape history.

3-4pm The ultra-modern Rochester Art Center presents an exhibit of painting, sculpture, ceramic, crafts and multi-media from local, national and international artists.

4:30pm Spend time browsing at Apache Malls over 100 retail, dining and entertainment options.

6pm Dinner.
